This just seems a bit sad.

People drinking beer while watching TV or playing video games.

It used to be about seeing your mates and discussing "stuff".

What's to say people aren't still seeing their mates, just at home instead?

Realistically, it's a lot cheaper to buy from supermarkets than from pubs, so it's not a hugely surprising result.

Well when it costs four times as much, and you have to sit in a noisy, smelly environment, is it really much of a surprise when people choose an alternative option?

It is sad But when it costs nearly £4 just for a pint, people just can't afford to socialise in pubs any more.

if you drive to a pub you can only drink like a teacup full of beer before Inspector Knacker takes an interest.

Price of a crate of 20 Beers at Tesco: £12

Price of ONE pint in a pub near me: £5.10

The reason for this phenomenon should be fairly ****ing obvious...

..but when you're down the pub you can meet all sorts of new people as well as your close knit friends. Its more open and inclusive.

I can meet new people at Tesco, or on the walk there/back, or in the hundreds of other places I go every week, I might even be able to afford to buy them a drink if we aren't at the pub.

Also, that assumes I actually want to meet other people, not just get **** faced and forget about my miserable existence for one brief moment.

I mean the Students Union BAR - where you meet others in a more relaxed and friendly environment.
