If you a back into 2a+b^2=15 you get b=3 or -3 but mark scheme says -3 which value do you take

Yh i noticed that but b is not and can be -3 however the mark scheme says to put it into 2a+2b=0
if you put it into the other equation is can be positive or negative 3
If you substitute b=-3 into equation, which value you find for a? You sure it's positive?
