You're right, Peterhouse is little and old but by all accounts is a close knit and friendly community. Go for it if you don't mind being at the heart of ancient Cambridge and avoid if you want to belong to a bigger community (Peter admits about 80 undergrads a year!) I went for a bigger college but would stress that, at the end of the day, you will learn and socialise with people from all over the uni and I can't recommend Cambridge highly enough. Go to the Cam website and order an alternative prospectus which gives a down to earth student view on the colleges. Good luck!
What subject ya doin?

Yeah, that sounds wicked, that they chose you, rather than vice versa.

Sorry, I know the uni well and people who are there/have gone there but I don't start my course until October. Everyone I know there adores the place - they say that it's a fantastic (but busy!) experience.

the best advice to any future's and hopefully everyone will agree is go and look round lots of different colleges in oxford and cambridge. i'd seen 2 cam colleges (christs and emma) and i knew straight away they weren't for me, but as soon as a walked into newnham it felt like walking into my home (cheesy i know) i even coped with the thought of giving up men!
still a bit gutted that i have to be there for 26th september, when im going to be like 1 of 1/2 a dozen people in the entire college! damn maths, dont they think we've done enough? if anybody's thinking of going to the cambridge or the taunton introductions mail me please, cant decide if its worth it!

How have potential Oxbridge students done?
Hi!!! I've just confirmed my place at St Hilda's Oxford for philosophy and theology and i'm REALLY excited!!!! I'm still in a state of shock about my results - can't believe I got 5 As and merit in history AEA when I was only expecting Bs and Cs!!!! I experienced blind panic followed by complete euphoria on results day, and then realised that i'm gonna av 2 work damn hard at Oxford!!!!

Any1 else going 2 Hilda's??? Any interesting and/or slightly eccentric men coming up to ox this yr????

What are you going to read? I'm on a gap year at the mo (currently attempting to learn Turkish in Istanbul....and not succeeding as such...), but off to Peterhouse in 2004 to read History (hurrah for the History College...)

Off to Queens' College Cambridge to do Medical Sciences. Got 4 As, needed 3. Might see some of you forum users there then it seems. But haven't seen any1 going to Queens' yet.
Get ready, its a bloody hard year (I had a terrible one). My best advice to give you is work from the beginning, and especially over the holidays. I didn't work over Christmas and am still paying for it.
Queens and Magd (where i am) will share supervisions in HOM.
