    Sorry for badly worded title.

I am looking to apply to Bristol University to study Computer Science. Their entry requirements state that an A* in Maths is required, but I don't take Maths - I take Use of Maths. Will this be accepted, provided I get an A*?

Probably not. Our college does use of maths and maths. And they say use of maths is lower than maths. So anyone who gets bad grades in AS Maths will be moved to Use of maths.

I'm pretty sure you can't get an A* in the current use of maths, since I'm pretty sure it's only offered as an AS.

There seems to be a new one, which seems to have an A2 if you're referring to that. I wouldn't have thought so but you'd be best off asking them.

Use of maths is not the same as normal maths, its better, you do lots of tasks that i genuinely can see myself using in the future, i dropped normal maths to do use of maths and i enjoy it so much

You are wrong, Use of Maths is a full A-level which can be taken at A2. However I'm not sure Bristol university will accept it as maths as it is considerably easier than Maths.

They will be looking at A* in A-Level Maths, not A* in Use of Maths
