    Hi,
I am about to apply for a student loan as a mature student, living on my own. I was made redundant last tax year and I believe my income can be assessed on this tax year rather than last. How do I go about this?

    Thanks,
    Robin

If you're classed as independent then you will be asked about your unearned income in 2016/17 automatically - see section 8: http://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/1617/ft/s...orm_1617_d.pdf it asks about the academic year you're applying for funding for not historical income information.

Income is only assessed for 2014/15 for parents or partners of students (and any dependent children's income).
