So I've been trying to apply for a job for some time now, It's beginning to become a norm where I can work the majority of the hours listed bar one or two shifts.

A prime example is Sainsburys, they advertise a job which could be something like 16:00-22:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday but then one shift on Friday which is 13:00-20:00. As Im a student I cant work that 13:00-20:00 shift... But is it worth applying and saying that I wont be able to work the specific shifts but I can work the rest?

It's worth applying, but don't get your hopes up. They need someone to work those specific hours which is why they advertised them. But they may have another vacancy they haven't quite got around to advertising yet, or have another applicant who can do the hours you can't do (and thus you can do a sort of job share).

The job descriptions are wrong on a lot of advertisements. I've lost count of the amount of times I've gone to an interview where they said that the times would change.
Email them separately to explain that you can do all but the one shift and they might swap things around if you're what they're looking for.
