Is there any clear guidance published on how the new student finance postgraduate loans will affect housing benefits and other state benefits for students with dependents? I have searched endlessly for information and have even called student finance, my local council, and CAB but none were able to tell me. If there is no information as yet then when can we expect this information to be published? Thanks

As far as i've understood it will be the same rules as undergrad funding effects benefits (so student parents, carers and disabled students can but i m unsure if anyone else is able to).

    Hi there.

Your benefits provider will have their own criteria for what they include as income with their applications so I'm afraid we're unable to advise on this.

    Thanks.

Any further info anyone on this? All I can find is that child care grants are no longer available for post graduate study (as opposed to
Undergraduate). Loan will not cover living costs plus fees I'm wondering whether tax credits and housing benefit will be payable still? I'm a lone parent on a low income.

    Hi,

You would need to contact the benefit providers to ensure the Post Graduate Loan will not affect the benefit you are receiving.

    Thanks
