Does anybody else feel like an underachiever at a university full of overachievers? I go to a "prestigious" university, and find the degree of competitiveness and the achievements of my peers overwhelming at times. I'm in my final year and most of my classmates have done several internships, often at places such as Westminster, European Parliament, and The UN, and have held various committee positions on societies.
Although I've done the odd bit of (very unremarkable) volunteering, I have no extra experience other than part time jobs in the service industry which I've needed to pay my way through university. I'm on track for a first and all of my time has been dedicated to this goal, but I feel like such an underachiever compared to my contemporaries, and it genuinely makes me wonder whether I will ever get anywhere in life considering that these are the people I will be up against. Does anybody else feel like this?

One thing I've learnt. If you don't want to feel like an underachiever don't spend a lot of time on the internet...

...just rips your head off and sits down there in the bottom of your gut. And that's you, junk. All the time, everyday, all day.

Edit: bit more to add. Think of it is as sunk cost. All that matters is what you do from now. Remember "Comparison is the death of joy"-Twain. Avoid social media and worrying just take every opportunity from now.

    Good luck ;-)

Maybe they will do better, maybe they won't. Something else to consider, you have already achieved(and will go on to achieve) far more than the vast majority of people.

After your first position in westminster, a think tank, a consultancy firm etc. etc. the rest of the internships will mean less.

    Do you go to LSE?

Thanks - it's just getting that first position that is an issue when up against all of these people who shine already. I'm not even saying that I want to achieve great things, but I just don't want to be stuck waiting tables for the foreseeable future. I'll DM you where I go.

I feel the exact same. And I've also put in all my efforts just in my studies.
