    So something like, critically discuss the extent to which equity intervenes in commercial transactions to assist lenders in gaining priority on insolvency.

    Is it asking, be critical of how far it has gone? Or is it saying be argue how it has/hasn't helped lenders.

    It generally wants to know the advantages and disadvantages of the subject, sometimes a little on how the area developed (if appropriate) and ideas and proposals for reform

    I think you're reading too much into it. Just talk about it. Can you think of any reasons in which equity does intervene in that way? If so, talk about them. Or is this not a major issue?
