Have you got any advice for upcoming Freshers, or maybe even first years who want to sort their act out?
I would say that throughout the semester you have to keep on top of things, and little bits of work now save a fair bit of time in the future. But it's also about having fun and achieving things outside of studies.
Another thing would be that for taking notes.. it depends on how much your lecturers give you before/after a lecture in terms of notes, so you have to work it out for each module but the ideal thing to do would be to write down key bits of information during the lecture (to stay awake sometimes, if nothing else!) and use whatever you're given to make better notes afterwards.

Don't go into it thinking it will be the best 3/4 years of your life. Uni is a tough time in your life and many have little work life balance. It has changed lots since your parents went and they can struggle to understand what you are going through if you are finding it hard to fight on.
