I got an A in my poetry (B in novel so that dragged me down) but I struggle on every question that I've been given/done since. I use Mr.Bruff's channel to give me ideas on how to analyse poems but when given a question to answer I can never find enough to write about and to link it back to the question. It's really stressful because it's a really important GCSE (for some reason) and I don't want to do badly in it. Does anybody know how to improve in English literature?

    Have you heard of TWISTUP?
    T- title
    W- words
    I- imagery
    S-sentence structure
    T-themes
U-no idea what U is, I'm doing A-level, forgot half my GCSE knowledge.
P- I believe may be pathos, empathising with it or pedagogy which means what message the author wants to convey.
Poetry was a bit of a naff one for me, but I used that. In terms of linking it back to the question, make sure you understand what it's asking you to do first of all. If it's love you need to say "this therefore shows love, because so and so"
I also recommend you to read reviews of the poems if you can find any, you also need to look at everything. Macro level- look at sentence structure, why do they use long sentences or simple short sentences. Micro- do they use enjambement? Is there anaphora? Metaphors, similes, imagery. Then look at the overall theme and message of the poem.

Thanks, I'll try to use that.
