So have I got this right?

    Cis/trans Isomerism is shown in:
    - Octahedral complexes with all monodentate ligands
    - Square planar complexes with all monodentate ligands

    Optical Isomerism is shown in:
    - Octahedral complexes with 3 bidentate ligands

Then tetrahedral complexes don't show any stereoisomerism?

    - But what about octahedral complexes with 2 monodentate ligands and 2 bidentate? Do they show cis/trans or optical isomerism?

    Thanks

The first two statements are correct, about Cis/trans and then optical isomerism. You are also correct with the final statement.. if the two monodentate ligands are opposite each other, this would still be an example of Cis/trans

So with 2 mono and bidentate ligands it shows cis/trans AND optical isomerism?

Correct, the 2 monodentate ligands can be cis or they can be trans

    Okay, thanks very much!
