I did it in 5th year but did it at standard grade and I was good at it but I found parts of the course quite challenging. Adv.H chem would help (even the first topic) and if your good at angles in triangles (cosine and sine rule sort of thing) and can use a calculator you should be fine
I done physics at standard grade and higher and I'm planning on doing advanced higher in sixth year. I didn't find the higher course too bad, if your good at maths then I think you should be alright

Hmm, I've taken crash Higher physics this year...

I'm already considering dropping it.

What exactly is the point to physics, anyway? Biology and Chemistry seem to be a whole lot more.... relevant?

Might stick it out, see if it gets better.... hmm. =|

oh dear, is it really that bad?

I am SO not looking forward to physics next year

I crashed higher in 5th year and found it really easy. Assuming you are not doing too much in 6th year it will be no problem

I always found it the other way round actually.
I crashed higher physics in 5th year and found it to be quite difficult. Only got a C. If you are going to do it, don;t take 5 highers. It was very hard for me. I ended up with AACCC. If I took a different higher than Physics I feel all these grades would be different.
I would say that if maths is your thing then physics won't be too bad. Higher physics is heavily based on calculations from equations - and you get a data book, so you don't even have to remember them. There is some explaining to do and that, in my experience, was the hardest bit. But the hardest things to explain e.g. semiconductors etc. tend not to come up too often anyway. I would say try it and if you really don't like it you can always switch to something you're more suited to.
It's absolutely fine if you've got a reasonable head on your shoulders, i crashed it this year and took AH chem and bio, and H french too. Got A in bio, B in chem, As in french and physics. Go for it!

i was thinking of dropping Adv art n takin higher physics i dd it in standard grade but id hv to self teach would this be far too hard?

i self taught H physics and got an A. . . (and im not the sharpest tool in the box!) if you are good at maths and have decent problem solving skill then you are fine. . . i only passed because i learnt from the chemcord book, but i had no other good notes!

GO CHEMCORD!!!
I am currently doing a crash higher physics course. I'm in 6th year. So far it hasnt been too difficult to be honest, my maths is pretty good so thats a really big help. I think the course for unit 1 is a case of getting your head around the basis of the content, then after that its the problem solving to do.
I didn't even use the data book in the exam. I would recommend that you memorise the equations, it would make things way easier...

Heck, you don't even have to memorise them, it's an automatic process once you've done enough questions.

I crashed higher Physics this year in S6- my other subjects being Advanced Higher Mathematics and Higher Human Biology. I personally found Unit 1 relatively straightforward as it is easier for me to tackle from a mathematical point of view. I found the other 2 units quite difficult because they do require a lot of knowledge and understanding of electronics and waves and light etc. If you study for it however: you will do well in the exam. I got a B in the prelim and my final exam is this Tuesday. Wish me luck
