For example a lot of people on here are complaining about their looks etc and to be honest a lot of them are very shallow, with them assuming that is the only thing that matters. However most people also have unrealistic expectations of themselves.
Simply- If we cant ourselves choose the "good looks" why should society?
Isn't beauty supposed to be in the eye of the beholder?

The reason why society focuses so much on looks is partly due to biology, and partly because of media portrayals of what a beautiful person is.

Good looks are usually a sign of decent genetic stock. However, where the media comes in is how it standardises a particular look or aesthetic that people should aspire to. It puts individuals who are deemed beautiful on a pedestal.

As much as it pains me to say it, having a conventionally attractive face can give you a leg up in society. People who are attractive usually get away with more, and people usually expect more from them also.

Comparison between being deaf or blind.
What one of the two is more important for your survival?

Both are really important, but nature has given us more powerful slight - we see in colour and can see a long way a way. Our hearing is not as good as other mammals but our eyesight is better than most.

Nature has given us really expressive faces so that tiny changes in expression mean something - more so than slight changes in our speech.

But, allowing for this, you could go blind and just use your ears and survive - it is of course possible
