Hehe- actually, it was King Leigh whose avatar attracted me- it appears Helen's was done in the same way- it's like a South Park thing- you make your own character and since I am a fan of South Park then I thought I'd do it!

Heh 'tis weird hearing people talk about people you've never met, but kind of know through this site.

Anyone know when the last alterations to Henley Boat Races crews are likely to be made?
Don't mean to get big headed or anything, but I just wrote the best effing essay of my life. Obviously sods law says I'll go to the lecture on the topic (conveniently this afternoon) and realise that I got the complete wrong end of the stick. But I don't care about this afternoon. Nobody can take this moment away from me. *sigh*

can any of the other physicists on here do the methods of mathematical physics course? I can't even start the first question! What on earth are you supposed to do?
Well I have no clue about 95% of the stats that has been thought this term...

I managed to stumble my way through the first question just by staring at it and working out what you need to integrate/differentiate to get the answer they want (this took me about an hour of drifting between thinking about it and looking out the window). Whether or not it's the approach they want you to take I don't know. If you like I could PM you what I did. I haven't really done any other questions, though.

Are we getting supervisions on this stuff? Are our advanced physics supervisors meant to do it? The guy's webpage makes reference to supervisors so I'm confused.

yeah i'm getting supervisions....i'm sure your dos will organise at some point. If you can send me what you did that would be great, if I can see a worked question I might start understanding something

Yeah, they're on the course webpage.

I think (hope!) they're easier than they seem. It's odd because they're unfamiliar situations and the lectures have gone pretty quickly and I don't know of any easy to find alternative sources of information about the content of the course. And I don't have a supervisor yet, which annoys me because I find it hard to motivate myself to do stuff when I don't have a supervisor.

I'm going juggling now. Hooray!
