Dreamer, Alex(ogs) and visesh are the new kids on the thread...hiya!

With reference to clubs and societies at Cambridge...i have been well informed that of the 400 odd clubs there...the largest and most popular is the Lesbigay soc....dunno about you guys..but i think i might just give it a miss..not really my kinda thing :tongue:

I want to join the ultimate frisbee one.....and maybe some kind of jazz band....it would be a shame to not play sax at uni when i've learnt it for the past 4 years!!!

EDIT: I would also like to play rugby for the college....as long as it isn't too competitive and violent and bone-cracking :tongue:

Here's a question for you all...do you know if regular non-music students at cambridge have access to piano rooms and the such???

Here's a question for you all...do you know if regular non-music students at cambridge have access to piano rooms and the such???

It would depend on college regulations, but as far as I know all colleges allow non-music students to use practice rooms. As a whole the student body is very into music, and involvement in bands and performances is encouraged.

i'd love to join an orchestra(i play the viola btw). problem is i'm kinda crap :rolleyes:

. i love playing my viola, but i just hope there are orchestras for those who aren't quite grade 8 standard (i just passed grade 5 by a few marks)!

I'm sure the college orchestra would be only too happy to have you!!! There's always a shortage of violas in an orchestra....ALWAYS!!!

Bah...i'm sure you're not rubbish!!!! You should be able to play in a college orchestra...as long as they don't opt for say...a viola concerto :tongue:

Hey!!! Let's form one then!! You can sing...i'll play my sax....all we need now is lots of other people!!! :tongue:

It must be really nice to play an orchestral instrument....i'm playing in a piano quartet at the moment...and the other three players are all string players in orchestra too.....i've never played in an orchestra..... :frown:

depends what instrument you play. its more fun if you play one that ALWAYS gets the tune *coughviolinflutetrumpetcough* but if you always play the harmony or the funny weird filling-in bit then it gets kinda boring. That said, i did get to play a huuuge long solo when we did "walking in the air" :smile:

Lol..yeh i suppose. I used to play the clarinet...but i had to give it up to go for the sax...ahwell...there's my chance gone down the drain :tongue:

yeh but with the sax you can play in a ska band...

Also you can get cool purple ones like my mate - tis sooo cool! bright purple saxomophone! :biggrin:
