Cambridge Chat (previously New Cambridge Students Entry 2004)

Oh rite, Fluffstar I was under the impression that you had an offer already? Besta luck on it - best thing to do is be honest, and look damnn interested in ya interivews... or atleast thats what i got told; at one point the guy told me some historical "fact" and i went "ya jokin!" (in a dead northern accent) haha did that make em laugh eh... and after 6 cambridge interviews, ive figured that if you don't know something, or aren't sure about it, then don't try and wing it, but let them know ur limitations; that way maybe they'll get a good opportunity to see how well you handle yourself on areas that you aren't extremely well-versed in either... ahhh i dunno,

Goodluck in anycase.
MadNatSci
Awwwww you'll be FINE  I'm sending out good results vibes for you all!

 thanks! I'm trying to forget about it now though - too stressful!

EDIT: I do have an offer
Haha, sorry I mis-read something; when you said:

"Better start writing my "please please nice admissions tutor let me in!! im good enough really i am..."

I kinda assumed that it was in ur personal statement hehe. Great stuff. oh well, good luck in ya results then hehe.

Jus as a laugh, one night i did actually consider writing "one day, ill be the most powerful historian ever" in my personal statement but... i dont think the interviewers like starwars.

Lol..y'know what..this is gonna sound so stupid...but i feel like i can hear your voice in my head...a really broad northern one with quite a deep voice.

And also the fact you wrote Jus makes me imagine your voice even more!!

Must be thinking of my rugby coach....he used to shout out loud: Ey up ya fat bastad.....ge(t) a moovon!! (please excuse the spelling...it's a rather poor imitation of his accent )

My personal statement took fook ages to write. Think i altered it about 20 times. Still sounds so crappy when i read it now.
Ah well, the admissions tutors liked it...
LMAO haha...

cept the deep voice, yeah i speak a bit like that - "ya jookn maan" - but not nearly as strong as REAL geordies (people strictly from newcastle) hehe...

and when it comes to writin on msn and stuff, i involuntarily switch between various dialects, and degrees of standard english... hehe after speakin to loads of people from the US (on msn) I've picked up "dayyyym" and i say it a bit too often... hahah.

Ohh yeah, ma personal statement was like... shite really lol. especially when i compared it to some other rite dodgy, arrogant prats...

i used to live in Middlesborough when i was a lot younger, and my aunty's family lived in cramlington in N'castle. when my cousin got married (and she had a strong geordie accent) i felt so ashamed because i just couldn't understand him- his accent was ridiculously strong
You lived in Middlesbrough? Niccce... hehe I can't say its the safest place to live, but if you've been anywhere near my road and lived, then you can survive anywhere in the world lol.

Where did ya live the boro? I guess you moved out early? I don't suppose you retain your middlesbrough accent do you? Cus I'm hoping theres atleast one other person at cambridge to remind me of hooooomme hehe.

Much as I love the Geordie accent, it has caused me many problems over the years, all quite embarrassing!
One of my really good friends moved up the Lake District when I was in year 10, her mum had a really strong accent. I think both our families were going to see a show and Mo asked if they could "pay on the door". A simple enough question but it took me a good five mins to work out what she was saying, I kept saying pardon convinced she was asking me could they "pee on the door", I was pretty shocked not to mention confused at the time!
This week we had two blokes come in to work asking if we were doing meals, I thought he'd said 'males' (as in gents toilet) and directed him accordingly. He seemed very confused and then asked for menus, keeping with my same line of thought (I still hadn't cottoned on to what he was asking) thought he'd said "mens' room" so this time actually walked him to the door! I went bright red when his friend translated it all for me, felt like a right idiot serving them after all that!
