Haha that's a good plan of action... in fact, the only difference will be that where you went into the wooded area, I'll ave to walk to the big ICI and chemical-venting industrial estate opposite the school, over the 5 train-tracks... god its an unsightly place...

 Our school is very 'leafy'. It's one of the reasons that I decided to stay on for the 6th form.

Last year I spent about 20 minutes trying to interpret the UMS marks and all that which I'd been given, to see what overall grade I'd got... that was a hard hard task too, considerin that my hands were trembling...

Lol me too! I had to get my head of sixth form to confirm that I had actually got 3 As cos I couldn't make sense of the info in the envelope. The arrangements at the school were quite dodgy as well - they laid all the results envelopes on a table in alphabetical order, and people came up and searched for their own. Anyone could have opened someone else's envelope and seen their results.

 ...although I suppose most people tend to be so uptight about their own results they don't want to delay getting them a moment longer!
Actually that's a blatant lie. Most of my freinds didn't know when results day was until I told them yesterday...let alone care about what they got

Ahhh I must share this experience with you all - please read it.

Heh, my school's not as bad as that...but all the teachers grin at you as you walk up to get your envelopes, it's kind of annoying. Does anyone else get a strange sort of pleasure before they get results? I know I do...OK, so you may be disappointed, but there's the kind of knowledge that 7 weeks of waiting is finally going to be over. In a weird way, I really like it.

Totally. Sick glee in knowing that you FINALLY hold them in your own hands, and that all the worrying and stress is over!
Going to open the results on your own kind of sounds like a good idea, but I have a feeling I'm just going to do it as soon as I get them. Getting exam results is good anxiety-control practice.

Our teacher in charge of exams just stands in the little garden area in our school...and we line up and get envelopes with the little results summaries from the exam boards. Luckily....all mine are on edexcel...so just one sheet..no fiddling with random pieces of paper.

I'm scared!!

Nah - we get them in the block - and it's literally a 2 second walk out into the shrubbery beside the lawn. Give me time to calm down and run through whats been going through my head for the last howevermany weeks..."you did your best...tried your hardest...if you don't get in, you weren't meant to...sh*t happens. Deal with it"

OH I so wish it was thursday.

I got my letter on December 31st, which I really wasn't expecting...my mum opened the envelope (she's usually so respectful of my privacy  ), and woke me up to tell me.

Sounds like my GCSEs - well actually I did IGCSEs (International GCSEs - apparently somewhat tougher [I hope so given my rather desultry results]), and the results are sent to your school rather than you in that case. Seeing as my mum worked at my school and the results came in a week before classes started she came home to wake me with the results.

Actually my mum's normally really good about that...she doesn't ask even when I get some pretty suspicious stuff in the post. But I can't really fault her for wanting to know about Cambridge.
