At Clare at least, you can leave your bin outside your door (best done the night before) and they won't come in. They're never in at 8am anyway though, so don't worry about that!

What time are they about normally?

What kind of music???

Coldplay at the moment. Rachmaninov before that. Paula Tsui before that.

I suppose some people call Trinitarians "Tits".

Good stuff....except i have no idea who Paula Tsui is...i'm assuming she's a chinese pop-star.......not a big fan of chinese music!! My songs of the moment are Razorlight, Hoobastank, BEP and loads of other stuff. I listen to most types of music, but esp rock and definitely not dance.

Have you heard the C# minor prelude by rach?? It's great

I just read Mike's old thread he started...and i noticed that the thread stopped abruptly when a newguy joined....he must've felt like a thread killer..lol..how harsh on him!!!

She's a Hong Kong singer, but I can't actually understand Cantonese, but my mum's a fan and it's kind of grown on me.

I hate dance music too! Well, the repetitive stuff anyway. Timo Maas has a few good songs out.

Yeah, I've played the C# prelude (Rachmaninov apparently called the piece "It" because he got fed up playing it as an encore in his concerts). The sad thing is, it's one of the easiest pieces he's written...bastard was a left-hander, so a lot of them have impossible left-hand sequences, although the right-hand parts aren't easy either.

Threads die for no reason sometimes.

try "twats" yet?

don't worry about the bedders - all they do is empty the bin and occasionally hoover the room. if your floor is a mess, they leave you alone to gather dust. they are also usually quite discreet - i hardly see my bedder around, unless i'm stuck in my room such as occurs in the 2nd half of easter term... but if you're really a privacy maniac, just permanently leave your bin outside your door.

one thing they do NOT do is tidy up after you. if you're the messy sort of person, you'd better bring a few large garbage bags for end of term packing. that's the usual method of sorting bomb sites out.

and if you think you generate paper now, wait till you try MVST or an arts tripos... i think the engineers also generate a fair bit of paper... in fact, i think we contribute significantly to deforestation over here...

If Trinity Hall is known as Tit Hall......does that mean Trinity is just Tit????

It would make sense if it was, but it isn't. If you go around talking about 'Tit' sadly no-one will understand you (or they will all misunderstand you).

I've been a tit person for a year now
Ok, back to music stuff. Music rooms will probably not be used so much by music students who generally have a piano in there room (Yay) although prob used for chamber stuff. If you need a tenor saxophonist I'll join the UKL band but i'm not very good - I can work my way through stuff with my classical theory. As for orchestra I'd like to do some conducting ( I did a haydddn symph with sscchool orch this year which was great fun. I also play horn so prob some good playing opportunities with it being quite a rare instrument,

Well, I play keyboard. Not very well. So, yes, but only if talent is not required. Mind you, if you want rubbish singers underneath the amped-up instruments, I'm your man!

I'm still waiting to see if the UKL Les Miserables production comes off

Here's the "Getting to know you" thread I mentioned, complete with aforesaid musical plans. http://www.uk-learning.net/t38483.html

 Did someone say UKL Les Miserables production?

And I'll play piano/trombone/euphonium in your jazz band if they let me in cos I play for you lot

If we're doing musicals we have to do sweeney todd (sondheim) or some other sondheim. I am trying not to think about music now - I had a text this morning asking me if I could play trumpet in a school verssion of Handel's Messiah. I am not really a trumpeter but can play the stuff but it is so horribly conssistently high.

I saw Flora the Red Menace by Kander/Ebb the other night (came out singing Chicago though  )
Now should I get into Cambridge, you are all invited to audition for my production of Chess (haven't decided if I want to direct or act in it yet ). Fabulous musical! Scary thing is the first time I saw it, it was performed by students from The Other Place
