Cambridge Chat (previously New Cambridge Students Entry 2004)

what's the date today?
And what day is it?
I have been a sleepy head for so long
now God's time has divorced me for the better.
just a random post so I know where I got to reading later
I HATE SHOPPING!!!!!!!! I've been in Manchester all day today buying things for uni, i might have to go back tomorrow too but the number of people who were in manchester today was astronomical. My pet hate list has grown today, i can tell you. Added has been Pidgeons (sp.?, again), Shoppin' (also again), Crowds, People with clipboards, Daytime TV (i was sat in Exchange Square eating lunch, watching the Fat Nation daily exercise, honestly  ) and Boots for ruining a perfectly good Cheese and Coleslaw sandwich. As you might have guessed i'm a bit peeved this evening. At least i'm not planning on killing anybody (else...yet).

lol, I somehow doubt you have sibelius.

Sibelius supposedly isn't that good cos it's too exact. Yuckity yuck. I want to play things wrong dammit!

Sibelius is wonderful (not as good as a pencil and paper of course). It is useful to have things written up legibly.

Hehe my music teacher's been complaining about my writing. And I thought I'd been getting neater.
Although I suppose Sibelius might be able to notate some of my mad rhythms

Katie! I didn't realise you were a MTF girl! I have a black MTF T-shirt which rather cunningly hides the stains . Want to start a Fairtrade stall at Newnham with me?

Oh I know what I meant to tell you - I'm meeting a Newham Arch & Anth-er on Tuesday (she's the primary school friend of one of my best friends from school) and is apparently lovely .

I don't remember meeting you Will, but probably saw you somewhere in the very crowded room at some stage in the evening.

I would quite happily get involved with something like that, we'll definitely have to meet up and get something sorted! I might even buy a new MTF t-shirt for the occasion! I think someone ages told me about a uni wide fair trade campaign or society of some sort!

It's only natural that an arch & anther would be lovely  Could you ask her how much reading (from the list) she's been doing? I think there will be quite a crowd of us at Newnham, at least 3 or 4 now!

The next week or so could be very difficult for me, I've just packed my CD player! :frown:

http://www.fairtrading.soc.ucam.org/. Newnham don't have a stall at the moment (losers!) so we'll have to sort them out .

Will do . I was sooooooooo glad when my Geographer mum said that she didn't read anything before she went, as I have done the same. I hope she's not fibbing... Btw, what time are you planning on arriving on the 3rd?

You've started packing?

Arriving before/around 11am I think, my mum wants to be on her way home by 2pm! I have to do birthday stuff with them before they go though so they'll probably stay a bit longer than that, they have more of a problem with me not being at home for my birthday than I do!

I've been sort of packing all week, only because I was bored though! Everyone else has upped and left, I felt left out so decided I would start packing also!
AAAAAARGH people have started PACKING?? I very stupidly accepted a temping job for this week so I've only got a few days free next week to run round like a headless chicken getting things done....and I havent done any reading either  which isn't good cos I think they expect you to with an ab initio language...it certainly doesn't show much in the way of enthusiasm for the course when I turn up and admit I only learnt how to say "hello" and "cheers" all Summer!

I'm leaving Saturday morning, so I need to do all my packing tomorrow. Oh joy.
why are you going so early?
I've only just started pa(ni)cking. I've done all the reading except for some books on ethnomusicology (one is only 100 pages so I can do that in a day). I am stressing about the listening of which I've done minimal amounts due to my CD collection being rather underfunded and not being able to take anything out of the library because I owe them £25 and can't pay it. I will just have to do lots of work in freshers' week.

It's 11am for me too .

I finish work tomorrow, and then must start to think about packing my life into a suitcase and numerous boxes. I'll then be doing the headless chicken thing trying to get all the things I need (well, want ) to buy before I go next week. Arg I hate shopping!

Selwyn? Is really very near Newnham - we can have strategy meetings!

I got my T-shirt off http://www.maketradefair.com/en/index.php?file=tshirtshop.htm&cat=8&subcat=1&select=1#. You can do it online, but I printed off the form and sent them a cheque instead. I have the black capped T-shirt, and my friend is getting the zinc vest for her 19th .

I have "Preparing for Patients B" the week before term begins. It's part of the 2nd year medical course where we go into hospitals to meet patients - and that'll be all my patient contact for the 2nd year over and done with!!

Cool! Which college are you at and what are you studying? I'm at St Johns. And don't listen to what anyone says - St Johns is a nice college full of nice people
