out of interest what do they mean? i have very ominous vibes about the "faeco" part of the faecophilia

edit: just re-read that post. ew.
Yeh, it took me a while to work out a) what the words meant then b) that the 'shit' he referred to wasn't just a generalism for bad stuff but, in fact, shit.

Ooh happy birthday!!

But I still reckon I win! Birthday in freshers' week and official matriculation day!! If I get a badge, I might actually be cool and wear it all day! At least you'll be able to track me down if I do, and assuming the cake plan works, I may even give you a fairy cake!

Ta . And if you're offering fairy cakes, then I seriously will track you down . It may be a bit complicated though as I already know of 3 Katy/Katies going to Newnham - lets hope there aren't too many more of us!

There is, but sometimes in Latinate terms they use the Greek. The Latin for blood is sanguis.

The more the merrier! Katies are by nature very cool people, sadly I can't say the same for all you Katys!

Where have the past few hours gone?! I have spent way too much time on here recently, I didn't realise how dependant I was on my friends to relieve the monotony of life round here, why did they all have to go first?!!

Watch it, missy! I have friends in high places at Newnham .

Yeah we can form a 'Katherine Variant' club! It'll be like being back in primary school again - you'll be 'Katie J', I'll be Katy (initial)... Alternatively, we could all adopt crazy new names .

by the way, this is really random, but does anyone know why sometimes when you get a bruise it's fairly uniform and other times it seems to be made up of several small (like 1mm diameter) coloured blobs>?

probably due to where the blood cells have shattered? maybe you could have shattered capillaries as opposed to minor arterioles/venules?

Crana9, I have no idea why but I do know the second type you described hurt so much more!! I had rainbow ribs like that on my return from T in the Park!

the idea of shattering blood cells makes me smile

I dunno. I reckon the places i have/had the bruises i am thinking of would mainly be capillaries anyway?! but i actually have no idea.

one possible theory:

if you bang yourself really hard you might rupture blood vessels sufficiently that lots(reltaively) of blood comes out all at once and forms one big under-the skin scab (so to speak)

however if it's a different kind of bang (I dont remember how i got this bruise in question, although its nice and big, but then i do bang into a lot of things) then perhaps it makes the blood vessels leak more slowly so you get a couple of mini scabs (kinda) froming

!?
