oh i was sent that maths booklet, it was a good refresher for all the stuff i forgot.

Okay all fresher Natscis:
Have you done the maths book/reading list?
I want to know if I'm worrying without reason

Reading list- I tried to read 1 feynman book that wasn't on the list, got half way through it then gave up, it was just too damn confusing.

Maths book- to be honest I found it stanky to say the least. I'm getting pretty worried now... although it's weird, towards the end, some questions I found realy simple, but the next one would be impossible! It's taken me about 18 sides of A4 so far, and I've got the last 2 questions left to do- some stanky integrations. Ach.

gah cant believe you actually did it! I got to the graph sketching and thought "pah, boring" and stopped!

Ah that's a point- I got stuck on that, can't remember the questions exactly, but how do you draw the graph of y = 3x^2/3 ? I've never come across that before! Also, how do you draw the graph of y = e^x sin x ?
Helenia
Hmmm, tempting but no. I'm not your bitch today.

I actually wore bright pink Westminster ones today, though they don't need to be washed just yet. Though by the looks of it, I'm going to be wearning my oxford ones on Friday.

ps. This thread must be longer than the Football one now!?

er, don't?

Thanks people  You've made me realise that I really should just stop whining and get on with the thing!
I went and got the textbook they recommended to help you today - so that might give me a helping hand!

Aargh!! Maths!!! I never wnat to see another bit of maths as long as i live.

you could differentiate to find the turning points, then test extremes and bits between turning points, and x=0.

I think this happens to be almost the expression which comes from solving the differential equation which describes damped harmonic motion. Or in nicer terms... a mass on a spring with resistance! (in this case it's like a pendulumn somehow gaining energy?!)

So basically, draw |y| = e^x faintly, then sketch a sin graph in it, obviously starting at 0.

Alex, stop please!! For the sake of my sanity.

I'm sorrrrry :'( I haven't done any maths for months. I totally forgot what I liked in it until just then.

solve

Don't start  . God, i absolutely hate Maths. Ever since this year's OCR P3 Paper i've hated it. Why do you think i did vet med, less Maths.

It doesn't stop me havin nightmares about that paper. Besides, i only got a good UMS score because everyone else did cr*p on it too, i just did less crap than most people. I still hate Maths too.
