hehe someone was busy last night then! Is that you drinking out of a teapot on the photogallery too - wtf is that about?

And of course I was wearing a costume, honest .

Alaric.

Yes, this is me:

Erm, it was on Saturday night, after the family meal/trip to the bar. Was in someone's room in the hostels and they had a random pot of cold tea on the table along with all the wine. Someone dared one of the others to drink out of it, and then another person (I don't like using names) took photos on his camera phone and persuaded the rest of us to do the same. For the record, I didn't actually drink it, just held it for the photo

And yes, I was busy last night, but it really was NOT a good thing.

Karaoke tonight, yay! Though I didn't sing. Some truly awful acts, but some damn amazing Freshers as well

Bleh, that's less fun than I thought, I thought it was some new cunning way of consuming alcohol!

I'm sure Ian and whoever else it was will be mortally wounded by that, or something.

I was kind of intending on going to that, but didn't, ended up watching a film instead. I've seen lock, stock soooo many times it would have probably been better in the bar.
Haven't decided if I'm crashing the Big Night Out* yet or not though, would involve finding freshers and stealing their timetable and a couple of mates only arrived back today so may go out with them instead.

Alaric.

*politically correct term for our pub crawl, apparently

Well, I'm hoping that they WON'T find out  and I didn't mean it the way you think, I was referring to the awkwardness of the whole situation.

Quite a lot of my year are going to formal first and then either catching up with the big night out, or going to Cindies. I can't do formal as I'm doing the Freshers' Fair for Marrow (come and see me between 5:30 and 7 tomorrow folks! Or 9:30 to 12 on the CUSAGC stall on Weds!) but will be going out later. Don't think my bank balance can take this much more

You could try drinking alcohol out of a teapot, it could be quite fun. But make sure you get rid of the tea first.

Want it be all over the gossip rag, whatever it's called.

Now, how do I obtain this publication? Can I view it over the Clare JCR site, or will I need one of my OW bitches to go to Clare and get it for me?

Greetings from New Hall everyone! Things are going as well as can be expected here - am having a rather quiet freshers week, staying in and watching videos in the jcr rather than going on pub crawls or to the Pav at Churchill. The people on my corridor are lovely (i got a great ensuite room in the New Block!), although they are all in the years above, and have given me some wise advice and a bit of perspective. People seem to already have formed into groups, although a few seem subject based, especially medicine, and medics and lawyers are already having supervsions and getting essays! Am looking forward to meeting the other Asnacs on Wednesday, as i'm the only one in the year and 1 of 2 in the whole college. I'm watching out for you Blissy! All in all, i wouldn't say im having a blast, but am getting accustomed to my surroundings and meeting people; a promising beginning upon which to build. Hope all you guys are enjoying Cambridge so far!

Chill, I'm not stupid, I know what you meant. I was only joking, it's not like I'd go and tell them for god's sake!

What do you think I'm like?

Alcoholic tea should work, but sadly I don't own a teapot so I'm going to have to stick to pint glasses.

Karaoke was absolutely hilar. I don't really remember any of them, apart from Antwon's number.
:frown: not really enjoying freshers' week - it all seems a bit silly. yes, that was me who was walking around with a paper on Sunday morning but Squishy and minor deity spotted me first. I am yet to make any friends and everyone here is so apathetic. I felt a bit embarrassed because at matriculation dinner I was the only person who didn't stand up for the toast to the queen. On the other hand I have found another lefty - he is called edouard and is a fellow inthe economics faculty - we had fun discussing venezuala and it was the first half-decent political convo I've had since I arrived. I am also scared by the amount of christians. It is really scary that people still believe these things in the 21st century. I have, on the other hand finally got some work to get on with from my DoS so that will keep me busy. Maybe i'll post again later.

P.S is the caffe nero the one that's just off themarket square?

But I'm looking forward to meeting all you guys, I feel like I kind of already know you lot....I've walked past pembroke 4 times now and think of Camford and Crana.

Ah, good old TSR. Finally got back on it after Matriculation. Anyway, first thing first. I am probably the only compsci without the comp in his room in the whole world right now. And I am damn proud of that. Who needs a computer when you can run windows in your head just as well as the P4 does?

Is the meeting still on, Will? Cafe Nero is proper small I think. Beside, I think there are something I'll need to do on Wednesday afternoon (tomorrow). I'll try to make it if possible. I'll get Rosie to remind me about it tomorrow.

Freshers' week is rediculous. So far, I've only had 7 hours of sleep in total. Going to nod off any second now. Went the pub crawl last night but left early. Those things are just too stupid for me to enjoy it that much. Had to pick lock for some girl who was half drunk at 3am this morning due the lapse of concentration which caused her to leave her keys in the room when the door is locked. Argh... Someone please get me out of this hell hole.
There are 12 residents in my staircase and 10 are girls  . Shocking... I know. Got run, matriculation photo is in 20 minutes time on the bowling green. I hope they'll leave enough time for lunch after that. Then I'll go to bed to catch on some sleep. Yawns.

It's been a long time since I've been in there, but I do recall there being an upstairs, Starbucks is still bigger though.

I'm not sure if it's only Clareites who can view it over the web, but you definitely need a hermes addy. I'll research it for you. And who are your OW bitches? Anyone I know?

MB, I'm sorry you're not having such a good time. It may seem a bit silly, but the thing is that most people here are just trying to fit in and make as many friends as possible, usually involving large amounts of alcohol in the process. It's just getting started, and if it's not your thing, I can understand why you wouldn't like it, but be patient. A lot of people are not interested in politics the whole time (myself for one) but hopefully you will find people who are.

hey jacob. sorry to hear that. i'm sure it's a case of starting friction and you'll find your thing as things settle down. i'm impressed at your unwillingness to stand up for the queen btw. if you're bored, you're welcome to drop by clare for coffee or something over the next few hours. it seems like most of mem court is out doing subject things. The unbelievably huge gaggle of natscis have all their signing up things to do today. So it really is a bit empty/lonely here at the moment to be honest. that applies to anybody. just text me/ring me 07800718627

who's going to today's freshers fair?

This is what I don't understand, it's far too early to make friends, they're all still just acquaintances! So as everyone else says, don't frigging worry about it. Respect on the toast thing btw I wouldn't have the balls to do that , makesure people know it's because of your political opinion and not that you're just a **** though

You just wait till they do their little yearly recruiting thing, then they'll properly piss you off. You should look into what was called the humanist society, but may have changed its name for this year. I can put you in touch with someone who helps run it if you're interested.

Yes.

Best of luck everyone, remember, freshers' weeks just get better as you get older. You have friends already, any freshers you meet are bonuses! It's a different kind of pressure.

Alaric.
