Cambridge Chat (previously New Cambridge Students Entry 2004)

Camford
my physics lecture finished at 10. so... if you saw walking with a short guy who looks like a malaysian then... that was indeed me trying get ran over by a car so my parents can claim the insurance or sue you for ran me over...

I think it was you. But I was on a bike, like the hundreds of other medics all trying to get to the same place at the same time, not in a car. Baz, I've never actually driven a tractor! And you don't hate Clare. You're just scared of me  So, what's the story, Rosie?

I'm using my powers of selective reading to ignore the argument that's taken up about 7 pages after my last comment.

Does all this mickey mouse subject thing really matter? No point in getting annoyed about it! So people with solely "mickey mouse" subjects stand more of a chance in getting rejected probably because they're irrelevant to the course, or else doesn't equip you best for the more traditonal ways of Cambridge. It's got nothing to do with "mickey mouse" subjects being "easier" - but sometimes they are easier cus I'd sure count maths a lot harder than art lol (although that could be because I can't do maths  )

Anyway stop arguing people!

Maybe you should learn to BLOODY SPELL  Tut tut, and they let people like this into Cambridge...what are things coming to?

when typing at stupidly fast speeds, grammer becomes irrelevant. If however I am trying to make a point as clearly and concisely and not being rushed to answer, then I try to avoid making grammer and spelling errors (as demonstrated in the rather long post in the other thread).

And I'm sorry Pencil queen....but I used retard because I was trying to avoid swearing, because I've been moaned at for that one now (although maybe the rules have chained with the censoring which goes on). And furthermore I keep shouting because these PC idiots are seriously driving me round the bend. Sometimes we need to step away from trying to avoid offending people, because sometimes we do just need to get real! And I'm getting real over micky-mouse subjects....i.e. a micky mouse subject will not be regarded as being as good as a traditional subject...which tbh is blood obvious. I am not advocating the removal of the option of studying these subjects, I am merely pointing out that as far as I am aware, you will not be doing any favours for yourself in opting to do a micky-mouse subject INSTEAD of doing a traditional subject...that's the equivilent of saying "It's better to do Economics than Business Studies"...which is blindingly obvious (I am not suggesting BS is a micky mouse subject, as that is quite an extreme term...I would classify it as an "easier option subject"...where there is an alternative course available that is generally better. Obviously if economics (or whatever) was not available then it doesn't matter).
Oh I also use capitals to express words as Bold as well, because I dont use tags very often.

All I ask is other people read what someone is saying, and listen to what they say in response...instead of just blabbing off about equality and stuff which is all just coming from PC. And also shiny you caused much aggrivation in that debate by lying (at least that's what I believe you did). It didn't help me what-so-ever. Also people who were saying that by my reckoning they didnt belong at cambridge also failed to understand me...as none of those people got in with only compeltey irrelevant "easier option subjects". If people take care in their interpretations and just use a little common sense, all this anger could have been avoided.

Are you attempting to fill up every thread on this forum with your petty little crusade Willa?

it's not a petty crusade...it's not even a crusade...it's everyone else who keeps bringing it up!

You just hijacked Fluffmonster's thread without any mention of the aforementioned argument. That's hardly everyone else bringing it up.
And if people do mention it, just ignore it. That would be the mature thing to do.

Em.... that kind makes sense and it kind doesn't. And I'll just leave that "doesn't" bit to you and let you figure it out yourself.

Yes it doesn't make much sense does it.

That's because you believe ignoring is the ONLY, take a note of the gigantic ONLY, sensible thing to do. You have not explored the alternative. There are as many ways to solve a problem as there are many atoms on Earth. So, think. Ignoring is sensible in some cases, but, it's not in other cases. In fact, it is the worst posible choice in most of things that happen around us.
MadNatSci
Damn, wish they'd done that to me this morning! That would be E&B then? *no comment*

QB made me feel really dense too. I forgot all my A level maths and had SO many supervisions where my supervisor patiently explained the chain rule to me AGAIN. But twill be OK - even I managed a 2i in QB in the end so you'll be fine  Is your supervisor good?

PS Just got email from my DoS telling me that despite our experience in our supervision the other night, our CDB supervisor is actually really good. Yeah right. I suspect he's never even met the woman - she doesn't even talk to her colleagues and she didn't answer any of our questions (just sat there and looked terrified)! How do they appoint supervisors in this place??!!

supervisors are PhD students. They get no training or advice on what they have to cover. Not surprised she looked terrified!

They're not all PhD students - I've never been supervised by one of them  All my supervisors last year were fellows or peripatetic supervisors who are already doctors (MBs or PhDs) although we had one clinical student for embryology.

I had to get one of the NatScis to help me with my pharmacology Maths

Excuse me! Mind not telling me what I believe! I never said it was the ONLY (note the gigantic ONLY) sensible thing to do.
I just didn't elaborate any further, because ignoring would be the best thing for the rest of us so we didn't have any more of this petty bickering.

Acaila, I think I'm with you on this one. The topic has been discussed/debated/argued so many times before... I also think that willa has a pont when he says that people are not reading what he has to say, but that is still no excuse for hijacking another thread, or letting stuff spill over from the other thread into this one here. Just my 2 cents...
