by the way.. anyone... Is there anywhere in cambridge that sells sewing type stuff? I need a hook and eye and some black thread in an experiment to try and make my gown wearable...Like any big dept,. stores should sell that kind of thing, but i dont recall seeing any?!

there's a really good sewing shop on king street if the one in hobson street doesn't have any - it's a sewing machine shop but they sell all sorts of other sewing stuff too.

devilchild....if you havent managed J9 by now, here's the answer I just worked out:

a rotation by angle t is multiplication by a complex number: p = cos t + isin t (since arg(p) = t)....therefore

z1 rotated = z1p
z2 rotated = z2p

taking these new values for z1 and z2, then (New z1)(New z2)* = (z1p)(z2p)* = z1z2*pp*

but |pp*| = 1 (obviously) and arg(pp*) = 0, therefore z1z2*pp* = z1z2*, so is invariant!

You rotate them through the same angle? F the guy who set the questions. I thought he meant rotate them through different angles. What a Bastard!!

maybe you're right shaui, but that's the way i interpretted the question! it cant be rotating by different angles actually, cos if you decided to not rotate one, but rotate the other, then you definitely WONT get an invariant, so it must be the same angle

Tick 5 won't take you 10 minutes, Tick 5* will.
Tick 5 has already taken me 2 hours. :frown: I'm sure it should be this, but ML disagrees.

fun nfold(f,0) = f
| nfold(f,n) = f nfold(f,n-1);
Just had a lecture on how to become immortal! Mwahaha (evil laugh!) but this website is more distracting than I feared, they mentioned stuff on apoptosis and all I was thinking was what you medically/sciencey people were discussing about it a while back!

Still ill :frown: my mum was even suggesting she come and visit, not that I can actually see that making any difference to my health

Is it because of something called circularity? Yeah... Curse that feature of ML. Bastard!
Discrete Maths is getting on my nerves!!

no no no

you want:

fun nfold(f, 0) x = x
| nfold(f, n) = f(nfold(f, n-1) x)

curry it damn it!
