I am in trouble. Went to the job agency today. They wanted to see my passport. Well, the only problem is that my passport is now sitting on a desk somewhere in home office... So, technically, I am an illegal immigrant....
I went to one earlier this week, and they wanted to photocopy my passport. I thought that was ok, they'd just photocopy the photo page, but noooo they go and photocopy all ofthe visas (about 6 or 7 of them, many of them covered in Arabic scrawl.) The woman at the agency gave me a weird look !
As far as I know, the "my replacement is still in the post" excuse is valid for about a year, what with the state of the postal services at the moment.
plus, of course, many people who are complete citizens etc etc don't have passports because theyve never been anywhere.
one of the senior members of our boat club once explained maggie novice dominance to me. apparently you guys own some really novice-oriented shells which are very stable and thus sit well for novices, hence your generally good novice performance. however, that apparently does not translate into senior rower performance...
Bah, humbug. I remember when I was a novice and our coaches were telling us how we were at a disadvantage BECAUSE of the shells (we preferred to call them tanks)!
KHL
and whilst i admit that our first boat at caius does tend to undergo major overhauls during easter term, that still leaves mich and lent terms where we depend on so-called "homegrown" talent. and we still get decent results
Yeah, actually you guys do really well even without the superstars, not sure what that's all about...
KHL
steve, are you in maggie 1 or 2? coz if you're in maggie 2... GRRRRR... not really your fault, but we caught a small crab and our coach reckons we lost about 20 secs, which would've placed caius M2 2secs ahead of LMBC2 (i.e. fastest M2)
I was in Maggie 2. 20 seconds for a "small" crab??? I reckon it was more like 17 seconds
Oh yeah, tis fine. My "stalker" turns out to be Sarah (aka Chicken) and Shiny was just involved in the conspiracy to confuse me!
Steve - we have similar "tanks" for novices to row in - the one time that my crew had to put away the boys boat we couldn't lift it onto the racks, it was so heavy! Unfortunately we don't get quite such good results Our W1 have the opposite problem, in that their current crew is actually sinking their beautifully light, streamlined boat - see Jet photographic for evidence!

honestly, i don't really know. but i would think stability matters more than a few kilos deadweight at novice level rowing. but that's personal opinion...

good rowing? i'm really looking forward to seeing our mays M1 boat this year... that's just going to be bloody unbelievable, if everything comes together.

pfft... whatever. anyway, congrats on winning it. hope to be touching your stern sometime next term

I just read that the total running time of the Rotk extended edition is over 4 hours long! *collapses*
Life during Christmas is always suckful for me. Before I got to this country, I didn't know people actually celebrate Christmas (shocking, I know). Now that I'm here, no one outside my (mum and dad and me) family is here (with the exception of cousin who's currently in the middle of nowhere).
This Christmas sucks more than ever. Reason? I no longer have a working internet connection at home. That sucks. Everytime the librarian sees me, she would run to the nearest free computer and log on for me. That makes me feel bad... *Mode = Hate parents*
LotR sucks. It really does. On the other hand, I do recommand "Cold Mountain". It's some 2 hours and 40 minutes long. But it is a film worth watching... if you like that sort of stuff, like I do. (*This is a slightly off topic comment: is that Nicole Kidman's pubes I just saw there?! End of of slightly off topic comment *)
we can always hope and pray... and it's not just them anyway, though admittedly they probably form a significant proportion of the dreamboat...
Do Caius have a "special" realationahip with the Gymnasiums or something? It's just as one german olympian goes back to Germany, another arrives on your doorstep.
