PC speakers or hifi speakers?

When I was sharing a room over the summer I had a sound out with my friend and my 2 small hifi speakers cained the hell out of his expensive small pc speakers and sub.

It is annoying only having two speakers though, if I had a proper sub i'd probably ruin my neighbours' lives though.

Yeah, they're PC speakers but I get decent sound quality - and they cost me £20. They're fairly loud. Of course Hifi speakers would be better - I have some great ones but they're HUGE and heavy.

And the 3.5mm out jack from my laptop is not that good anyway.

well i admit lugging my pc system to uni is a bit of a challenge, but it's worth it. I have a very powerful machine for a reasonable price, a sweet sweet TFT monitor and a 5.1 surround sound system with uber bass from the sub woofer

Well that's not an option for me, because I can only take my luggage allowance for an economy flight. It's like 25 kilos, one suitcase, two hand luggage.

well then yes you're stuck with a laptop

I have no idea where I'm going to take my computers when I finish or how many trips in the van this is going to take to get stuff home. I mean the DEC Alpha is probably about 50kgs and huge, wtf was I thinking.

I think I'm sticking with the Dell this time. Will get a apple at some point, but not this time. I hate shopping for these things, I do. What was I thinking? Applying to CompSci instead of maths.
Does Apple ever crash?

Hehe, I wonder who that can possibly have been? Sounds like fun, I'm just a cripple at mountain walking so I would hate to drag you guys back. See you soon, I'm sure!

Pub meet on Sunday? I might be taking Welsh Cakes  They're on offer in Asda and we did have to go looking for them in Betws-y-Coed to show them what they were like, no one tried any though.

Hmmm. My sister secretly set it up to record without telling my parents - they weren't too happy when they found out

are you serious?
That's where you wrong Alaric, I have picture on my mobile phone which shows a crashed Apple. Don't know which one it is, but it is crashed. Very rare picture must be said.

Is there any reason why Macs produce top compscis?

Well generally compscis have a dislike of Windows for purity reasons, Billy boy Gates played the market exactly how he should have and so was very successful but some of the **** decisions that've had to have been made have hurt the quality of the product.

Also, it's a unix based system, which all compscis have to be familiar with and it actually works without hassle like linux is.

It's also a RISC processor with a microkernel'd os architecture for extra compsci-points!

Ok. I take your point even though I haven't got a clue what you are talking about. I'm going to get an apple but it's just not going to be today.

Wait till you get back because you can only get the education discount if you're on a JANET connection. I'm in the lab most afternoons (ie. I'm just eating lunch now and will be heading there presently) if you want to take a closer look at a powerbook (bit better but essentially the same).

I'll wait till this time next year. Thanks anyway. Then, I can leave this laptop to my parents, or sell it and have the mac to myself.

Get an internship over the summer and then buy one, like I did.

Note: this course of action requires you start looking NOW!

That is on my mind. Thanks for reminding me. Do you know how I can get one? (the internship of course)

Which Sunday? Today, or next week? I'm booked for the pub today!

I think I've had Welsh cakes, my Grandma and her sisters used to make them

And Rosie - I am serious, usually they are fairly relaxed about everything, but some of their friends went to see it and said it was appalling not to mention offensive, so they didn't feel it should be part of my sister's video musicals collection (she's obsessed!). Plus Mum was mainly annoyed because she wanted to watch a different video but couldn't because it was recording.

As for the adverts, I've got "A-Level Easter Revision Courses" and "Physics Tuition Company" neither of which are any use to me
