I haven't got much of practice with all the cool feature of OOP yet... obviously...
My friend wrote a java program to check for webpage updates, e.g. newly published stories or blogs. It checks all the bookmarks... Imagine doing that yourself, ramping through 30 sites... Very useful tool.
In my first year I wrote an irc client as supervision work rather than tripos questions for Java.
The CompSci revision tips class is tomorrow at 5pm.. and I got to choose my room for next year at 5pm tomorrow... which I should I go to? Nice rooms, or possibly better grade? Nice rooms, or possibly better grade? Nice rooms, or possibly better grade? Nice rooms, or possibly better grade? Nice rooms, or possibly better grade?
I can't decide, therefore I will go to neither...
I have both of those and a supervision at the same time. If you go to the revision class, record it on your phone, then Jin can get you a nice room, and then we can get a copy of the audio file. Everybody wins.

well... em... I don't know. I'll get people to get room for me... I think I can at least. I don't know.
I doubt my phone can actually hold that much material... or more likely, the recorded material would be audible...

I'd lend you my dictaphone, but its (ahem) at home.
You could bully Kate into lending you hers if you know her.
i really do empathise... one of my neighbours is an architect and she rarely sleeps damn cambridge. damn degrees.
who's that? if she's first year, i will know her, cos there's only 40 of us. wait, are you at newnham? it must be chi, right? she is onr of the hardest working architects i know, and we're all pretty hard working!
i respect anyone who does any sort of degree at cambridge. i'm not saying mine is harder than anyone else's, just different. as for sciencey/essay stuff, there's no way i could do any of it! architecture is simply the only subject i COULD do at cambridge, so i'm glad i am!
WOWOWOW.... there's no way I'm going to get a first now....
An IRC client is actually really easy to write, apart from the IRC protocol being slightly yucky all you really need to do is read the RFC and know a bit of sockets stuff, simple multithreading for GUIs etc and you're away! In fact you probably don't even need separate GUI threads in the simplest case...
