our fabulous crazy chem lecturer (who likes to read out all the dodgy comments we put on the questionnaires) thought it would be a great idea to put explosive chemicals in boxes at the front and let us throw paper aeroplanes to try to detonate them. he's blown up enough things recently and there were enough people aiming for the boxes that we thought a better idea would be to aim at trinity. my friend spent a good proportion of the lecture making his plane. it was so worth it
I've heard so much about this man, from so many people, it's almost worth being a Natsci just to see one of his lectures. Nobody blows stuff up in any of my lectures. And we don't get to throw stuff at annoying people. Did Trinity realise you were aiming for him?
Alaric, how come you are not at the lab again? Oh and... is your mate's project ok? It's still a pile of green and black blobby stuff on the bench/table/whatever.
Because I need to work. So I'm not.
Yeah that's the best it ever got. He hasn't taken it apart yet. Doubt he will really. It's all over anyway.
he got hit more times than the boxes... i assume he did.
you should just turn up to a lecture...but next year now...no more chemistry yay!!
Think bf is still doing some Chem next year, wonder if he'll get the same dude for that, in which case I have a ready made excuse to go watch. Otherwise I'll just crash with the first years, nobody will notice

sometimes his intervals are quite crap (but at least he makes the effort, which is the important thing). His best stuff was in the first few lectures he does for 1A students, and the last few he's done....including that amazing comment "Why don't you lose two electrons and become a LUMO?". I didnt hand in a comment sheet simply cos I dont think I could think of any comment worthy of the man!
Hi guys - just thought I'd pop back to wish everyone loads of luck!! Not that you'll need it, any of you Just think - a couple more weeks, maybe three, and you will be drunk as a skunk and having the absolute time of your life. May Week in Cambridge is SO worth waiting for
I will probably return blind-drunk after my last exam on June 9th! So apologies in advance for my post
Nicky xx
PS homoterror: don't worry about the mock! You will be OK! Just keep going and don't give up - I did last year (in addition to doing a million other things wrong throughout the year) and it was a big mistake. But even if you do get a third it's not the end of the world - far from it (hi by the way, don't think we've "met")
I really would like better than a third though, a 2.2 would be bleh, I should get a 2.1 brrr! Fingers crossed I seemed to have gained some momentum this evening though.

I can't check all the way back, but why the new name? And where were you at Life last night?!?!?!
last 1a lecture! till i fail and have to retake...
anyone got any good methods of revising physics? does reading and making notes on the lecture notes work??
2nd/3rd year compscis/natscis??? help!!
I find that learning basic principles and trying to derive generic stuff is the best way to go. Like I memorise the form of the boltzmann distribution and try and use it to get the maxwell-boltzmann distribution in a logical way.
btw i have a quick physics related question....in the simulations the lecturer used for doing boltzmann distributions, he did that whole thing with the energies swapping around between the boxes. What would the degeneracy of the energy states be (surely they have all the same degeneracy...but how do you work out what it's value is. It must equal the number of states that have 0 energy, but how do you work that one out!)?
