Yes, the heavier you are, and the taller you are, the longer and more powerful your stroke. Height, unlike weight, isnt considered a factor when it comes to erg times, because a short person should take advantage of their shorter stroke by rating higher than the taller rowers. Ergs dont care about rushing the slide so much, so you can get away with rate 36 etc, whereas a tall rower will find that much more work cos they have so much further to travel up and down the slide! That's why weight is the only one that gets adjusted for. And keep in mind that your adjusted time may well be a lot quicker than your actual time, but according to the scale I think that the adjusted time is the time somebody would get if they were just as good as you but weighed 100kg! So adjusted times are only good to compare to other people's adjusted times, they're not v useful on their own i dont think!

According to the formula they give, it's adjusted to a weight of 270 pounds so 122kg

Cambridge has a giveaway newsgroup:eek:.
Yup. There's very occasionally something useful on there, but it goes within half and hour usually. If you're looking for something useless or highly specific then you could occasionally be lucky and have someone want to give it away.

I remember when there was a pair of SGI Origin 2000s given away. 8 processors each, running IRIX, they were crazy. Last I heard one was still being used as a coffee table despite being worth about 5000£.

That kind of giveaway doesn't happen much though!

I really wanna go to bed cos my back is hurting and so I cant focus on my work. But I have two problems: 1) I'm not tired, and 2) My room is 30 degrees despite both windows open. The bloody hot pipes make it stupidly hot! What am I to do!? I just want to slip into an unconscious state cos this back is painful!

Didn't say go to the bar did I?

I'm currently looking my 1/3 bottle of Southern Comfort and wondering... "should I or shouldn't I?"

you should!

i got trashed last night. it really focuses the mind. sort of.
I once attempted to make sense of physics at 5am after a night of drinking... didn't make much sense to me at all.

Having said that, I have a maths supervision at 8:45 in the morning tomorrow. I should try not to have a hangover. I actually have lemon to go with the drink this time. Oh what the hell. Might as well...

the worst thing is when you dont wash it off your hands when you've applied it to your injury, and then touch your eye or something. My brother did that, he was screaming blue murder for the following half an hour! It's like putting chilli in your eyes apparently!
