Say when you get your results on results day and one of them, you were 1 mark off an A.. how would you know? If: a) we don't get our papers back b) we only get our final grade (A*-U)

You get your UMS mark for each exam on your results sheet, which is basically your mark converted to what it would be if the exam was out of 100 and 90 was A*, 80 was A etc. Like if I got 47/60 in an exam and that was the A* boundary, I would just get the UMS mark which is 90. People usually get a remark if they're 1 UMS off the next grade, so basically when their UMS ends in 9
