A petition wants Real Madrid to be stripped of their first five European Cup wins.

The online petition already amassed 50,000 votes. The petitions line of argument is that those trophies in no way correspond to the competition recognised today as the UEFA Champions League.

In that case, revoke any European Cup/Champions League win up to the 1994/95 season, because the format was not changed till then, and the competition wasn't reformed to what it is today till the 1997/98 season.

I sense the petition is more about Franco and his regime though, and the alleged influence he had on Spanish football.

I'm sure there are more than 50,000 Barcelona fans who would be willing to sign that petition.

Another case of "football only started when it suits one set of supporters".
