Are the 3hr and 4hr papers harder or 3h and 4h?

Neither are meant to be any harder. The 'R' stands for 'Reserve' because they are reserve papers that Edexcel make in case papers get leaked early. However, people say the the R papers are harder, I dont see it though.

For 2 years we've been practicing 3H and 4H and suddenly when we get our statement of entry, it says we have to sit 3HR and 4HR. When asked, we were told that its just a regional change however there are many schools in the country and city giving 3H and 4H

R papers are just different versions of papers for the same exam specification taken in different time zones. You take one pair or the other depending on your location. The exam dates are the same.
