Hi, I had booked my driving test for Aberdeen North and later found a cancellation in Cove. Does anyone have experience taking the test in cove.? If so how was it.? Was the route tricky.?

My local test centre and I seem to spend a lot of time there (I'm an instructor).

In my opinion, it's the better test centre - examiners are friendlier than in BoD and will do their best to put you at ease throughout the test. The routes tend to have more roundabouts than BoD and you will be on the A90 dual carriageway including slip roads which you don't get from BoD.

If you are going to take your test in Cove, get familiar with the following areas:

    Altens Industrial Estate

Roundabouts in particular - Bridge of Dee, Garthdee, Victoria Bridge, Duthie Park, Holburn street, Altens (BK and shell)

If you've not had any lessons with an instructor in the areas that the test centre uses, then would advise taking some so that you're familiar with the lane positioning etc. required for roundabouts and junctions. Shouldn't be anything you can't handle but why put yourself at a disadvantage if you're not familiar with the area?

What time and day is the test booked for as that may influence the route you get.
What's the best type of cheese?
