I was looking at another forum just now and they can use tags to input maths formulae in LaTeX format. It produces graphics which are the typeset formulae.

You just do something like:

<div class="bbcode_container">
	<div class="bbcode_description">Code:</div>
	<pre class="bbcode_code"style="height:60px;">[tex]
\frac{dy}{dx}=2x^{2}
to get a nice typeset formula!

Anyone know if a similar feature is available here?

Well we can use the special symbols such as integration sign etc. by certain key presses such as "ALT so and so" - The special symbols come up. e.g.) degrees symbol, integration, "less/more than and equal to" etc.

Not quite sure what thekey presses are for these though.

Yes, they'll be ASCII codes, most likely. This LaTeX integration (in the integrated sense, not the mathematical sense) gives a better formula:

will show you what I mean - look at the aligned formulae! Better than using loads of brackets in fractions etc.

We have had the discussion in the past regarding LaTeX implementation (I'll use that term rather than integration!), I think we concluded that board administrator d would investigate the scope for it's usage on this board, and any potential strains on the UKL server that would result.
