Michael Gove has said that free movement from the EU accession countries will put the NHS at risk. Those who argue against this say that accession may be some time in the future, an argument that merely puts the problem off for 5 or 10 years.

Gove might also have noticed that the 600,000 immigrants entering the UK each year already tax the NHS to its limits because these immigrants are not registered NHS users and so usually go to A&E rather than a GP. The head of the NHS has already identified that much of the strain on the NHS is due to high population growth. ( without migration the population of the UK would actually be declining due to emigration)

Even if Brexit happens, then any deal to have access to the single market will require free movement of people.
