# Microwave pulse distance question watch

1. Title should say duration not distance sorry

Calculate the maximum pulse duration which would enable distances between5 km and 200 km to be measured.

I'm confused why you have to use the smaller distance rather than the larger to calculate maximum pulse duration required, could someone explain?

Rest of the question would help... presumably you want to range find by reflecting microwaves off a target ??

microwaves travel at a well known speed... presuming you want to design the system so that you're not emitting microwaves at the same instant as you are receiving them & the lower travel time of the microwaves occurs at the shorter distance.
