How might the day length in summer result in the snowshoe hare's fur colour becoming darker? I know it has something to do with the enzymes that produce the pigments, but I'm not sure

Not 100% sure but I think the amount of sunlight would stimulate the hypothalamus/other glands to produce hormones increasing melanin production in the fur, leading to it becoming darker... might be completely wrong though :x
