alot of big names come to brum to do gigs - some big clubs draw big names, not to mention NEC/NIA close by. Personally im looking forward to some top trance DJs, as well as some dnb and hiphop clubs, and a little rock too.

I'm from Brum and have been to most places. I'm more into indie and there are some brill clubs for that, mid-week and weekend. But its true, if you like loads of music, you can easily find a club to go to every night thats cheap, and nearly every club has a student night. Then there's the after'parties that go on til 7am, but ive only done that a couple of times!

Also the Carling academy has some really good bands, i tend to steer clear of the NEC/NIA, as it's pretty expensive for a ticket (justin Timberlake just played here and it was like £80 a ticket!).

But yer overall you'll have no problem finding a night out that you'll enjoy.

Any questions/queries about where to go just ask...

Yeah I'm more into rock/indie as well but any cheap student night is good with me
I don't like the Academy that much, the acoustics are horrible! And I think the most I've paid for an NIA ticket was £20 odd for Snow Patrol!

Cheers for the replys peoples, and sos about the language, lol, bad habit.

Ummmm, yeah it sounds good, the fact that birmingham is a big city with a lot of night life really influenced my uni choice. Am hopin for a really underground grime or dnb club that hasn;t been commercialised at all.

Am doin psychology and business administartion, anyone else???

Bit of everything, loads of gig options and different club night options, whether you like dance, indie, rock, rnb, garage, whatever... it's all good!

pfft. Metal's good, but get some variety chiba. trance is awesome party music.
lol I do have a bit of variety as many of my mates are very different! for some reason I like dance music a lot but I hate indie -dodges rotten tomates- Pssh metal is more than good its great!

The main stuff im into is underground pure hip-hop, nu- metal and the occasional decent trance material that comes my way. Bands/Groups like Linkin Park, Fort Minor, Jedi Mind Tricks, Gym Class Heroes, Enter Shikari, Daddee Yankee, Jay Z and Scooter etc etc.
Hey I love QOTSA and LP. Main bands are like are Nightish, sontata arctica children of bodom, tarot, dragonforce, evanscene lacuna coil after forever etc.... distured (also a big fan of nu metal)
Word of warning I hate emo bands
lacuna coil! Fantastic band - still think they did enjoy the silence better than the 'mode. LP are good, but I think they can be a little hitnmiss - hybrid theory is seminal, but meteora fell a little short - not made my mind up on the new album.
Scooter! scooter! - that's not music, it's squeaking.

'Hello to the man in the icecream van!' *raves*
I thought scooter was dead?
I hoped they were. apparently they released albums in 2004,5+7 (good old wiki)

When I visited the uni, it seemed to have alot of asian/bhangra nights advertised, which kinda turned me off of the place. I hope this isn't like the big thing there, as that would be such a waste.
However I am into most music styles.
