    Hi, i'm stuck on this question (part iii) - If you want a link to the paper, it's Chemistry B OCR Jan 2011 F334:

    The answer is Cd(OH)2 + Ni(OH)2 -> Cd + NiO2 + 2H2O but I wrote down the opposite/reverse (I worked out my answer according to the anticlockwise rule).

    Why is their answer the opposite way round? Is it because the battery is recharging so the reverse reaction occurs (which is why the equation is the reverse)?

    Yes, the recharge cycle drives the spontaneous reaction in the reverse direction.
