Been thinking about this recently and well if you 'preach' about something i.e. Enforce or advise certain rules or actions should you lead by that example ideally ?

Do you think that advice or guidelines are less respected if hypocrisy is observed?

Indeed it is. I think it's bad when politicians do stuff that contradicts the values they are supposed to uphold like expenses and infidelity etc. If you're in a position of responsibility you have to assume it and accept a level of self-censorship when you take on these roles.

It depends. Telling a child to hold their parent's hand would be a tad odd to have to do yourself, but generally, if you're going to tell someone what to do then you'd best do it yourself too. I'd be inclined to say that imperatives as a whole are a tad of an ********y thing to give anyway, but if you're going to give one then people won't particularly respect you if you're not going to do it either.
