For any students sitting the Edexcel English Literature exam on Thursday 26th May, under the topic of The Supernatural, I thought I would post a thread to help those who are preparing and revising!

I am studying Dracula by Bram Stoker and The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters - but these themes would also work for those studying the other books under the category of The Supernatural. Unfortunately, for me and my fellow peers, there are limited resources on the internet that cover themes, quotes, symbols (etc) in TLS, as well comparison themes. So, here are some that myself and my class have thought of:

    - woman (or gender)
    - science and modernity vs religion and superstition
    - good vs evil
    - social class
    - insanity and confinement
    - teamwork (or loyalty and bravery)
    - settings
    - presence of death
    - modernity vs the past
    - how fear is created
    - the supernatural's effect on relationships or individuals
    - significance of minor characters
    - power
    - morals
    - the use of gothic conventions

If anybody has any questions regarding revision, quotes, exam structure, context, I will be more than happy to do what I can to help! Also, if anybody else has any plans, quotes or valuable notes for the exam, do post them here for others to see!
