I am interested in going to BHASVIC but haven't heard a lot about the college. If you are studying at BHASVIC or have a friends that goes there, can you answer some of these questions:

    1.What are the best courses?
2.Is it better than other schools such as Varndean College?
3.Can you do the IB Diploma there?
    4.What's the average class size?
5.How good are the Language courses?
6.How good are the Science courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science)?
7.How good is the Graphics course? Do you need to present a portfolio?

    Hi

I taught at BHASVIC until 2014, still go up there quite a lot and have lots of friends still teaching there. I'll have a go at these questions ....

    1. It's more a question of what courses are best for you. That depends on your plans for the future, skills and preferences.
    2. Both colleges are popular and students enjoy their time there and do well. Try and visit for yourself and look at their prospectuses.
    3. No - you can at Varndean i think.
    4. Not certain but I would guess about 22 in year 12 and 19 in year 13???
5, 6, 7 Difficult to say; gain it depends on what suits you. Not sure about the Graphics course - check the prospectus.
You can read the last inspection report as I've attached it. This was back in 2012.

I loved teaching there and know most students enjoy their time and do very well.

BHASVIC is pretty oversubscribed so I think you'll be unlikely to get a place this year; don't know about Varndean.

Sorry I can't be more specific but it's impossible to make those sort of judgements. You should definitely try and visit the colleges and make your own mind up.

    Good luck with your decision-making!

Thanks for the reply. I am going to the taster days for both colleges and I'll probably apply for BHASVIC next year after I finish year 11.
