I think the average is about 20 hours but you are expected to spend twice more on independent work

First year, both semesters were 21 hours + 2 hours of languages for me.

Second year, first semester was 21 + 2 hours of languages + 2 hours of 'placement development' sessions.

Seconnd year, second semester has been slightly less due to my options requiring less contact time (14 hours + 2 hours of languages + 2 extra hours every other week).

Universities universally get Wednesday afternoon off (as far as I am aware) and some even get the whole of Wednesday off, but otherwise my hours were spread fairly evenly over the week.

Ratio of contact hours to expected independent study is 1:1.
