What are enthalpy change of hydration values always negative? watch

    Is it just the fact that it's a bond making process and that more energy is released that taken in to break bonds?

    Bonds are being formed, bonds being formed is exothermic, these bonds are between the Metal positive ion and one of the lone pair of electrons on O , due to water being polar, or the negative ion and the delta H+
