# C4 Integration Question Watch

1. Hi,

I was going through the C4 paper for January 2006 and I came to the integration question I've attached an image of below. I've circled the bit I got up to.

The markscheme gets to the integral of 3(u^2+1)/2u x udu and then simplifies it as seen below.

When I simplified, I got 3/2u^2 + 3/2 not 3u^2 + 3/2

I integrated from there so got a different answer. Why does the markscheme simplify in this way?

If you look at the next line, it's clear this was a typo, as they integrate to

However you should end up with the same final answer.

Oh, okay. Thank you! I think I made a mistake with one of my negatives later on.
