HND - Late Assignment and effect on overall grade Watch

    Hi,

I have just got my results back and I am particularly peeved off with one subject. Near the beginning of the academic year, I was late handing in an essay so was given a referral date in February, I worked my butt off to ensure that the essay was handed in by the referral date.

All subsequent assignments were handed in on time which I scored top marks on. My issue is that I have now got my final grade for the year and it is only a pass. When questioned, the tutor told me that as one essay was late, I highest graded that I could obtain for the year was a pass.

I am pretty upset about it as all my hard work (including a few all nighters) on the other assignments and practicals was in vain. Had I known that the maximum grade I could get was a pass, I would have not blown a gasket delivering distinction rated work for the rest of the year.

Can any other HND students confirm if one late essay / assignment means that the maximum grade obtainable is reduced to a pass? To confuse matters more, some tutors in my college give higher grades than a pass even if one assignment has been late.

I'd really appreciate if other HND students could share their experiences of late assignments and the effect on their overall grades.

    Thanks a million,

    Miro
