When i'm hearing voices, I find it hard to keep track with conversations. I also struggle to watch TV or listen to the radio because I get messages from them telling me to do things. I'm a lot quieter and less confident than I used to be because I struggle to tell what's real and what's not. It can keep me from going out and socialising because I can act oddly sometimes.

Are you happy with the medical care you have received or do you feel more could be done to improve mental health services in your area?

Good on you for being open about your mental health journey btw. Its a huge step :hugs:

I've been sectioned under the mental health act 3 times, and in hospital I didn't get the level of care I needed. They were very overrun and struggled to meet the needs of patients. What needs to be done? More staff.

However the care i've had in the community from the Early Intervention in Psychosis team has been completely wonderful. I see my CPN whenever I need to and I see a lovely psychiatrist every 2 weeks.

I'm glad you have a lovely psychiatrist. Mine isn't, but my CPN is!

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been diagnosed?

BPD is one of my diagnosis. What's the hardest part of having such a diagnosis?

About 2 1/2 years ago I started hearing the voices of a man I used to know. I also thought that the walls were talking to me and telling me to hurt myself. I told my mental health coordinator at university and she organised a mental health assessment for me on the same day. That day I was diagnosed with psychosis.

For me the worst part is experiencing such strong emotions that I don't know how to deal with other than hurting myself. I wish I was a bit less sensitive to things in my world.

I'm sorry if this is offensive, but i'm very curious

did you at all ever smoke cannabis or take any form of drug before you had schizophrenia? and do you think this triggered your condition

I hear voices sometimes whilst fading off to sleep, I've never been conscious enough to analyse how much they are affected by will or how easy it is to manipulate them into saying certain words/phrases, have you tried at all?

I used to smoke cannabis and take speed. I think it probably played a part in my ability to hear voices.

I can't manipulate my voices. They say what they want.
