    Honestly, part time jobs (ESPECIALLY in holiday times) are so competitive that you should really just apply everywhere that you can get to. Waiting tables, McDonalds, retail, kitchen porter, etc. are common part time jobs. Look on indeed.com, it's my favourite website to browse job openings in my area in because of the lack of filler.

    Make sure your CV looks professional if you're using one, and if you end up getting an interview dress really smartly, like in a shirt and smart trousers and black shoes. Other than that it's down to luck of the draw and knowing someone who already works at the place you're applying to.
