In November 2010 I took part in a maths exam for AQA foundation i believe and have a certificate for a C. However on my piece of paper of my gcse results from June 2011 i have D in maths higher. Is my C in the foundation course still valid as my current maths grade?

Yes. If you sit an exam twice, your best grade counts.
